On 18 December 2018, the “UNESCO Cultural Heritage” meeting held at DEU Rectorate-DESEM Bordo Hall was held in order to draw attention and raise awareness on this issue, which is of great importance for our country.

The awareness meeting started with the opening speeches of IZISYÖM Director Assoc. Prof. Yunus Emre Özer and Murat Karaçanta, Acting Director of Izmir Provincial Culture and Tourism. The meeting was moderated by Prof. Dr. Ergün Laflı, Director of DEU Aegean Region Cultural Heritage Application and Research Centre (EKVAM), and presentations were made by Cengiz Topal, Director of the Ephesus Museum and Head of the Ephesus Area, Nihal Kadıoğlu Çevik, Head of Research and Education Branch of Izmir Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, Çağdaş Güneş, Head of Promotion and Foreign Relations Unit of Izmir Development Agency, and Bülent Türkmen from the UNESCO World Heritage Unit of Bergama Municipality.

In the presentations, information was given on the activities carried out on UNESCO Cultural Heritage, UNESCO Cultural Heritage processes, tangible and intangible cultural heritage and the supports and co-operations provided on UNESCO Cultural Heritage.
