Internet is among the indispensable needs of our age. However, the use of the internet also brings many victimisation. Especially frauds over the internet and credit card victimisation make us think about the measures to be taken against the problem. Not only through the internet, but also telephone and similar fraudulent acts cause individuals to experience victimisation.

(İZİSYÖM), which aims to draw attention to the importance of this problem and acts with the mission of coordinating the creation and implementation of local action plans, held an awareness meeting on the theme of “Cyber Attacks – Fraud Victims”.

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Vahap Tecim from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. In the meeting, Assist. Prof. Dr. Koray Doğan from DEU Faculty of Law made presentations on “Fraud Crimes Committed by Telephone and Informatics” and Ali Tokul from Izmir Police Department made presentations on “Safe Internet Credit Card, Safe Social Media Usage and Safe Shopping”.

Ozan Uçar from Sinara Labs Phishing Solutions made a presentation on “Cyber Attacks and the Role of White Hat Hackers” and Şahin Gör from Turkish Economy Bank made a presentation on “Banking Sector and Cyber Attacks”.

In this awareness meeting themed “Cyber Attacks – Victims of Fraud”, the subject was discussed in terms of legal aspects and security measures as well as the knowledge and experience of those who are involved in the practice.

The participants of the meeting were made aware of cyber-attacks and methods of protection from cyber-attacks with simple measures were shared.

At the end of the meeting, IZISYÖM Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yunus Emre Özer presented certificates of appreciation to the participants.
